Cambria USA Palo Alto

Cambria was founded 1984 in the Silicon Valley and is still there in Menlo Park. By 2006 we were getting increasing competition from overseas and decided to set up our own offshore software development company. We settled on the Philippines because the results of almost a half century of American occupation there has created a society with an American Style culture. It is one in which almost everyone speaks some English and educated people, such as our programmers, are fluent in it. Any american would be feel at home in Manila and have no trouble in communicating. This contrasts, in our view, favorably with India which is another option we considered. It is likely that this is also why software ousourcing in recent years is growing here relative to India

Cambria in Menlo Park

If there is a better place than the Silicon Valley for a software / design company to be based we don?t know of one. It would be nice to say we planned it this way but, in fact, Palo Alto is simply where Dick, Nancy and John Geibel lived when they started the company in 1984.

But Dick is still here and Nancy, Janet, Ken, Helen, and Liz still work out of Menlo Park. You can read about them here.

Early on Dick led an effort to create a point of sale product while Nancy built a custom programming business based on dBase and later FoxPro. The product was eventually sold to a New York company and our focus on custom programming became complete. With the addition over the years of staff with a variety of talents Cambria now is expert in all mainstream programming tools.

A moment of reflection may lead you to realize that one of the things you get in the Silicon Valley is incredible competition for the best talent and very high salaries, and prices to our clients. This consideration led us, like other Silicon Valley companies, in 2007 to open an office in Asia in our case the Philippines. Today most of our work is done there.

In the 1980s we accepted any kind of job that people would pay us to do and we found ourselves offering tech support services along with programming. Today under Kein Do we provide tech support to companies and homes all over the San Francisco Bay Area.

In the 1990s our programmers began to create websites for our clients. As the web became more sophisticated we discovered that our clients wanted more artistic talent than our programmers could offer. As luck would have it, just when we were realizing this, Catherine Jones a talented artist knocked on our front door in 1997, and the next thing we knew we found ourselves with our first professional web designer. As of today our staff of web designers has created more than a thousand websites.
